Trekking to Elephanta Beach, Havelock

Elephant beach is a very small beach with almost no coast. Waters here are calm and for first 20 metres , less than 4-5 feet. You get to lie down in waters with small waves almost inviting you to sleep in their arms.

Elephant beach also has extraordinary snorkelling opportunity. Just 20 metres into water, there is unbelievable coral, marine life and rocks which will blow your mind. A view of open sea with few island hills in the back drop is an exotic view one must experience. The amazing coral reef along the beautiful white sand beach in the shallow waters is simply not to be missed.

Trekking to Elephanta Beach, Havelock

A trip to the Elephant beach is an adventure. Usually Elephant beach is visited through boat, however for people who wish to get immersed in the beauty of the islands one must go trekking to the Elephant beach.

There are 2 ways to get in to Elephant Beach

1) Trekking via jungle & mangroves, the starting point can be found approximately 8 KM from Havelock Jetty on the way to Radhanagar Beach.

2) 10 Mins Boat Ride (Fast Boat) from Havelock Jetty.

During the trek throughout the jungle and return an expert guide who knows the turf accompanies you. Depends on how fast you are the trek is covered in approximately 30- 45 minutes of time. A ground of appromitely 300 metres through marsh land and mangrove forest must be covered before reaching the beach. The guide helps you finding ways for you.

Early morning around 8:00 AM when the temperature is moderate is the best time to begin your trekking and you can return by 1.00 PM after completing snorkelling or the timing can be scheduled accordingly on your arriving time. During the trek make sure to carry some refreshments or they may be provided. An umbrella can be availed on demand without any extra cost.Later you can indulge yourself in Snorkeling activity by paying at the spot based upon your interest.

  • Throwing of any garbage or dump is prohibited.
  • After 4:00 PM you are not allowed to stay in the beach because all boats return back by that time.
  • NO ferry sail here if weather is bad.
  • Every person who is in water,life guards keep watch of them. Any hint that a swimmer is going towards deep water or if he is not comfortable underwater then the swimmer will we warned and can be called back.
  • It will be one heck of a journey that you will remember if you can trek to this destination during off Season.
  • Nudity is not allowed on this beach.
