Naval Marine Musuem

Samudrika Museum, also known as Naval Marine Musuem as it is maintained by Indian Navy. It showcases underwater marine life at its full glory. Samudrika Naval Marine Museum is situated at a distance of 6 km from the Aberdeen Bazzar ,Port Blair in the Andaman Islands. It is a must visit tourist attraction in the Andaman Islands. The entrance passageway has been beatifully landscaped. A big rare skeleton of a blue whale is placed in glass covered box at the entrance. This museum also houses many small aquarium having school of fishes ,corals and shells. Samudrika Naval Marine Museum has five gallery halls .Ecah protraying with history, geography, anthropology and acquatic life of marine plants/species found in the Andaman and Nicobar Island. Museum has informative depiction life of tribal communities present in andaman.


To illustrate different facet of Andaman Islands, Samudrika Marine Museum has divided the place into well thought out five gallery rooms

First Room

Intersting facts about Andamans are dipicted in first room like-

  • lifestyle of various tribes of Andaman
  • Insects found in Andamans with their classification
  • Tropical forests and wood found in Andamans.Also samples for display
  • About only Volcanic Islands of india present in andaman namley Barren and Narcondam Island

Second Room or “Aqua” room
