Entry Formalities for Foreign Nationals
Foreign nationals could stay in the islands for 30 days. It could be extended by 15 days with permission. Foreign nationals require a permit to stay,it can be obtained on arrival at Port Blair (either by air or sea) from the immigration authorities.
Permits can also be obtained from
- Indian Mission Overseas
- Foreigners Registration Offices at Delhi, Mumbai, Chennai, Calcutta.
- The immigration authorities at the airports at Delhi, Mumbai, Chennai and Calcutta.
Permit for day-night halt

- Havelock Island
- Middle Andaman Island
- South Andaman Island
- Little Andaman Island
- Neil Island
- Long Island
- Diglipur
- Baratang
- Islands in the Mahatma Gandhi Marine National Park (Excluding islands - Boat Hobday, Twin, Tarmugli, Malay and Pluto) (Night halt with permission only).
Permit for day halt are
- Brother Island
- Sister Island
- Ross Island
- Narcondum Island
- nterview Island
- Barren Island - can be visited on board vessels and sea plane only
Entry Formalities for Indian Nationals
Indian nationals need no permit to visit Andamans. However, permits are required to visit Nicobar Islands and other tribal areas, which are given in exceptional cases. Application on a prescribed form may be addressed to the Deputy Commissioner, Andaman District, Port Blair.
