Viper Island , Andaman
Viper Island is very near to Port Blair and was the site of the old Jail where the British used to jail or jang convicts,political prisoners and freedom fighters. Viper Island is now a serene beautiful tourist destination and can be reached by harbor cruise originating from Aberdeen Jetty in Port Blair. This Island was part of the great struggle for Indian Independence and had witnessed the sufferings and enumerable sacrifices of freedom fighters involved in Independence of India. This small island got its name from the vessel TSS Viper which met with an accident near the island and wreckage reached its shore. It is beleived Lt. Archibald Blair came to Andaman and Nicobar Islands in 1789 in vessel `Viper'. This place is visited by number of tourists as it has multiple attractions with historical importance and also has mesmerizing picnic spots with natural picturesque environments.
This Island was part of the great Indian independence history and had witnessed the sufferings and sacrifices of Indian national involved in freedom struggle.
